Actor, as well as four sisters. By 1910, the Thompson family had moved to the village of Warsaw, Ontario, while 16
year-old James was living and working on the farm of George Barr a few miles
away in Cottlesloe.
James enlisted with the “Peterborough

1915 with the 8th C.M.R, but was later transferred to the 5th
C.M.R. along with a familiar Warsaw boy, his cousin Gordon Carveth. L. Corp. Thompson would have seen various
actions in 1916 such as Mount Sorrel and at the Somme. Thompson was in action at the attack on Vimy
ridge and was gravely wounded there while serving with the 5th
CMR. His wounds were described as a
gunshot wound to the head and left arm.
He was evacuated from the front and made his way to the Royal Surrey Guildford
