Robert Edwards was born in Warsaw, Ontario on December 2^nd 1877 to parents Samuel and Harriet Davis.

Edwards was drafted under the Military Service Act and reported to Barriefield Camp in Kingston on October 11^th 1918 for a medical inspection.  He was nearly 30 years old, stood 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 135 pounds.   He had a fair complexion, blue eyes and dark hair.  He was a Methodist and a farmer by occupation. Robert was single, had no previous military experience and was living in Warsaw at the time of enlistment. He was considered class A.2, and fit for service.

Pte. Edwards was assigned to the 1^st Depot Battalion Eastern Ontario Regiment at Barriefield Camp, Kingston on October 15^th 1918.  He trained there for the duration of the war and was discharged on February 5^th 1919 when his services were no longer required.
